Non-Profit Partnership

Literacy rates are lower than ever in the U.S., but they are lowest among low-income and underserved communities.

The average middle-class family owns 12 books per reading grade level per child in the home. The average low-income family owns just 1 book...per 300 homes.

Operation Literacy, a 501c3, is dedicated to advancing literacy for this demographic. They have chosen to partner with us and use our cost-effective 3-part solution to address this problem.*

By donating today, Operation Literacy will put your dollars to work to change the lives of children in your own backyard.

* Operation Literacy is the fiscal Sponsor of OperationREAD's charitable work.

** Scholarships are awarded based on needs and are meant for families from low socio-economic areas who are in need of financial assistance. â€‹

3-PART SOLUTION

1

EARLY SCREENINGS

Research shows the earlier we identify a struggling reader, the less it costs and the easier it is to intervene. Early screenings are proven to close the education gap by up to 90% success. This has a powerful, life-long impact on children's lives.

Sadly, many struggling readers in public schools don't get help until 3rd to 4th grade, after years of reading trauma have occurred. We can identify them as early as  kindergarten to first grade.

We work with local communities to host READ-A-CON events in low socio-economic communities where we provide free screenings. We typically identify 10-20 at-risk children at each event.

2

EARLY & APPROPRIATE INTERVENTION

We provide at-risk families with immediate and appropriate interim intervention while they are in the process of securing 504s or IEPs.

Getting an IEP or 504 can be a long and arduous process. Even after families secure accommodations, there is no guarantee that child will receive appropriate, explicit, science-of-reading backed  instruction.

So we also support administrators, teachers and family to ensure appropriate, long-term interventions are put in place, via training, professional development, and more.

3

MAKE THE PRACTICE OF READING FUN!

The DIVI assistive technology reading platform addresses one of the biggest problems in the world of literacy instruction - intrinsic motivation.

Even when a struggling reader has appropriate intervention, the practice of reading is full of drudgery, pain and extrinsic force.

DIVI solves this problem in numerous, unique ways. Teachers report that childrens' reading time increases, as do their skills, confidence and reading enjoyment.

Qualifying families receive free access to the DIVI database of short stories and science articles, as well as a free new book every single month.
